That's where I'll be at 9 AM...sigh... He'll be 12 Friday so I should be a pro at this by now, but I'm still a bundle of nerves!

Do you get the same way?

good luck.

DS will be 6, but i have to say this is his first IEP meeting, i wasnt scared about.  and it went extreemly well.

i guess what helped me, is that i see his teachers everyday (i pick up and drop off) and i am part of the PTA, so i am always a face shown in the school

Being nervous is just a part of normal every day life. These meetings can be intimidating at times because you are dealing with professionals looking at your son's weak spots in education. Prepration can be your best friend in situations like this while you are waiting. I recommend reading: http://www.wrightslaw.com/, http://www.thearc.org/, http://www.ldonline.org/, and http://www.autism-society.org/ while waiting.

Not really...because I know if I don't agree with what they say....then I can tell them and they'll work with me...they just want to help my kids.  But I have had to make a big stink before to get to that point.

Me too! I think showing your face around school really helps with staff relationships! It went really well but my stomach never fails to strangle itself beforehand! Lol!

Yes, honey and I am always very nervous and scared too. It is the one time when it is crystal clear that my son has issues that are serious, I always feel so alone at those meetings even though everyone is nice. I never schedule anything afterward because I am a wreck and I just go home and take a nap...I figure that is the one time I really earned one! Hope it went well, reward youself for a hard job well done!!  XO

How'd it go?

I've been at an IEP meeting every year since 2002 and I still get nervous!
