My son used to do that for years. He was nonverbal but when he learned how to use a pencil he stopped. He started to draw instead until now. Give her something to keep her hand busy. Like puzzles, educational computer games, crayons, play doug, beads to make bracelets, dominoes and etc...

Ashton used to rip like crazy. He still does sometimes. Sigh

Molly does the exact same. Shes 2. All of her coloring books have been ripped to shreds, if she gets ahold of the mail its shredded in seconds... She would be perfect for working in washington to destroy documents lol

My 14 year old rips paper all the time, it drives me bonkers!!!!  I attempted to take away the paper from him, and he started ripping his clothes.  Pants, jackets, shirts, any thing he can get his hands on I gave  him back the paper! LOL!!!!  Looking for something to keep his hand busy!
