Melatonin- how much?

I got this for our road trip. It says 5mg/ per Tbl. We gave her 1 tsp- didn't really notice. She's almost 5, and a little chunk. Not wanting to knock her out, just relax her in maybe high stress moments- we have hotels, eating out, mall- all the places our kiddos don't handle too well. We've got a routine with her on these things-but.......
Any thoughts?

I think it is different for each kiddo...for my one dd...(who is 10 and weighs 70 lbs) I can give her 6mg and it does nothing....

good luck..hope someone has better luck and insight than I do.

My son is about 38 pounds and he's almost 5 years old.  I give him 3-5mg depending on the day.  Works well for him.  Good luck!

My doctor says go as low as possible. 3mg. My son is 110 lbs and almost 13. I give him 5mg and it works fine.

I do 1.5 mg up to 3mg. I wouldn't do more.

Can you contact her pediatrician and ask them? If not stop by a Walgreens and go in and talk to the pharmacist. They can give you dosages.

1 mom liked this

You want to do as small a dose as possilbe. My son is 40 lbs and I only give him 1/2 a mg. The tablets we buy are each 1 mg and he only gets half. It works fabulous for him!

Remember, they have to have darkness for it to work and it takes about 1/2 an hour. So turn down the lights and make it quiet. Give it her a little bit and settle down w/ a bedtime routine. Books maybe? And see if she starts to get sleepy after about 30 mins.
