Anyone else not very good at taking care of THEMSELVES??

Posted by   + Show Post

I think I may have made the wrong choice.  So, I woke up this morning with an ear ache, but kind of ignored it.  A couple hours later both ears hurt and itched.  But, school was cancelled today as I'm in the -50 or something like that wind chill area.  That means kids are home, and I need to be here to take care of them, can't go out to doctor, and it's way to cold so who wants to go out today.  So take some Tylenol and keep on moving.  Hubs gets home later than I thought he would and by then urgent cares are closed.  I start googling ear infections and have some heat on it now.  But oh my, it is getting worse.  Can barely open my mouth without my jaw hurting, both ears are throbbing, , itch. whole head just hurts.  Whoops.  My kids I would have been bundled up and run out there in a heartbeat, but I thought I could get by until tomorrow when kids would be in school - now that is cancelled too.  Augh, messed up.  Anyone know any at home remedies for ear infections?  The heat is not doing it!  Anyone else not very good at taking care of themselves?

Group crashing here. Cut up some garlic, warm it in olive oil, cool and drain out the pieces of garlic. Pour the garlic infused oil into your ears. It wirks, this is how my Mom treated eat infections when I was growing up. Side note for anyone currently breastfeeding, breastmilk in the ear is also a quick solution to ear infections.

Hmm.  Thanks.  Good to know.  I haven't had babies in 5 years, but the garlic I probably have.  I tried the white vinegar treatment I found on the internet.  Yikes, won't try that one again.  Stung so terrible I wanted to scratch my ears right off!

Funny thing is, i finally broke down and went to the Dr yesterday after roughly 8 weeks of ear issues..... double ear infection...fluid build up.  mine didnt hurt much. I have to see a specialist.  hopefully no permnant damage.  I am terrible at taking care of myself. I have tostart being better at taking care of me bc i was recently dx as a diabetic. I just don't know how.  My chainof care priorities goes..Kids,Husband,Dogs  Work, family/ Myself.  Its so hard for me to shuffle it around.  I know if I dont take care of myself, i wont be able to care for the rest.

Sure hope you feel better soon. Moms famously put ourselves last, glad you got into the Dr and the needed meds. Take care!

You are right, we all put ourselves last, but we gotta figure out how to turn that around!

8 weeks of ear issues?!  Holy moly.  My ears are throbbing, itching, and stinging, along with reduced hearing.  It hurts my entire head, hurts to chew, or turn my neck, just ick!  There is no way I could have lasted 8 weeks.  Mine's a double ear infection too.  Just hoping these meds kick in fast.  I want to be able to lay my head down on a pillow again and sleep!  But I get everyone has different symptoms.  I'll cross my fingers you don't have any permanent damage!

I never go to the doctor, even when I seriously need to... I feel like I don't have time or something.  But if it is one of the kids, I take them right away.  I had an ocular migraine where I couldn't see for 45 minutes, and then had the migraine for 3 days, and still haven't been to see the doctor about it.  This was 4 months ago.  I should probably get in at some point.

I wish I had something to tell you about the ear infection, I have no idea.  Sorry, but I hope you feel better very soon!

I'm totally like that.  Kids go right away, me never.

But I'm paying for it now.  Got some meds, but doc said pain will get worse before better, and he's been right.  It is AWFUL.  Hurts to hear, turn my head, chew, lay down - just forget about that.  Augh.  Made the wrong choice to wait!
