Hello & welcome. I'm so sorry his school is not helping you. It's their job to teach your son not pass him back & forth like a ball. When I had problems with my sons teacher I went over her head right to the special ed coordinater & that helped out. It didn't solve all the problems but it smoothed out some of them.

Make sure he is put into every therapy they have available. With him being nonverbal, I know speech will be given but see what sort , if any, ABA therapy is practiced. Do your research! Look up your states special Ed laws to see what is required by the state but if he has had a 1:1 aide, I'm assuming that will carry on to his new school. With heads start, is there something stating he receives a 1:1 aide? If so they are legally bound to find him a replacement!

Sometimes it feels like 1 step forward, 2 back, but as he gets older he will accomplish so much! Hugs, mama!

Have you placed him on the Autism waiver for your state? It can help you get additional services if your insurance does not cover them. Aides are typically not paid well and probably worse at a Head Start which makes it no surprise that the aide quit, and it is probably not due to your son. The aide probably got a better job opportunity. Have you thought of getting him involved with your local Easter Seals (http://www.easterseals.com/) because they offer help for those with Autism. I also recommend http://www.autismspeaks.org/, http://www.wrightslaw.com/, http://www.autism-society.org/, and http://www.specialolympics.org/.
