" Mom, Max makes a lot of funny noises". " Sweetie, he doesn't know the noises he is making sound funny, it is his way of expressing his emotions". "Do you know what he is saying, Mom?" "Sometimes, not really, it's hard, you know". " Mom, I think you should have another Autistic kid so they can tell us what Max is saying".

I didn't know if I wanted to laugh or cry. Its hard on us as parents, sometimes I forget how hard it is for their siblings as well.

That's actually a really sweet thought from your other child. My daughter's twin says things like this sometimes. It's heartbreaking in one way & uplifting in another.

We are like that with DS. He can speak, but he'll talk so fast or mumble that it's hard to understand what he's saying. I can usually understand 95% of what he's saying. 

So there are people that DS will talk to and they have this look on their face like, "what?!" lol
