Our town honored my severely autistic son with a beach clean up in his name
A few local business people and local politicians threw a big beach clean up to honor my son Lucky, who has severe autism, for all his hard work cleaning up our town. Lucky's obsession is (and has been for 5 plus years) all things disposal/trash related. He loves trash trucks and it evolved to him constantly picking up trash around town and on the beach for hours and hours every week. A local business man who does a lot of charity work in the community found out about him and has made him one of his many pet projects. So today about 100 people came to the beach and cheered Lucky on as he showed them how it was done. They are also paying to have his new puppy trained to be a service dog, sending the family to Disney, with a private tour of the disposal facilities, got him a private tour of our local dump with a ride along in a trash truck, having him honored by the chamber of commerce and have started a drive for the local businesses to give things to Lucky to thank him.
Lucky doesn't understand but as his parents we are touched beyond belief and so thankfull. After years of smelling stinky dumpsters, it's nice to have something positive come of it all.
