Apparently I have a rep at DS's school

Jim has come twice in the past two weeks, with multiple bloody scratches on his neck. It looks like he was attacked by Freddie Kruger. Apparently when they were trying to separate him due to explosive aggressive behavior an aide scratched him.  They have to pick him up and carry him when this happens to take him to a calm down area.

I understand how it could happen but as this has never happened before; I am not happy about it.

I had to take him to school yesterday after his psych appointment, so I called the school Tuesday afternoon to remind them of his appointment and to ask about who Freddie K'd my kid.

I was very calm, I m not even really upset that it happened, because I can understand that he can get aggressive (biting, hitting, kicking, etc) I just want to make sure precautions are in place so that it does not keep happening.

I explain to the principal that I want to talk to her the next morning and the senior behavioral specialist. She asks me to hold for a second, and while waiting I hear her talking to someone in the background about my coming in to talk to them. The second person replied, Oh, crap she is not mad about something is she. What did we do?

Apparently I have a rep as a bad ass...LOL

Spoke to them and from now on personnel transporting him will wear gloves, and after the situation calms down he will be checked over by the nurse.

That is funny. I had a rep when my son started school- I remember one day they forgot to put him in the five point harness on the bus. The bus driver seemed scared by what I would say and kept apologizing- I wasn't even mad. I guess I got the reputation because I was very involved with the teachers and I wasn't afraid to call the district when I wanted something.

I am very involved too. Jim wears a harness for the bus with 4 clips, the vest stays with Jim but the bus has to have straps on the seat to connect the vest.

They have transported him several times with out the bus straps. I made it abundantly clear that the next time he left the school on that bus and he was not properly strapped in, I would file a lawsuit for child endangerment.

A thousand years ago, I taught a class for parents whose kids were newly diagnosed for the military. I used to tell the moms...Find your inner bitch and set her free, she is your best friend in this situation.

I'm not even worried about how they perceive me.  When it comes to the safety of my child, I definitely go "Mama bear" on them!
