Xavier and Lily had their appointment with the behavioral specialist. I was looking over the paperwork and noticed that she changed his ADHD to hyperkinesis.

Its the same thing. But could have more weight depending on his needs. Means Dr saw the hyperactivity for herself and didnt just go by parent reporting. But behavioral specialist.....
Is she a Dr of any kind?

Yes, she is a a Doctor at Golisano's Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. They are the only one in my area that does autism diagnosis. And is on the list of places to go for a diagnosis on the autism speaks website.
Yeah she said he's so different from the last time I saw him. He's great at communicating. He told her that he's the boss at school. She said no you're not the boss, the teacher is. I am the boss because I said I so. But he needs better coping skills for when he's upset and now we are looking at child psychologist who specialize in autism.

Thats great his communication skills have improved! If they are that conversational a counselor for children could possibly help too if you have a hard time finding a child psychologist. As long as the counselor has experience with autism. We go to an autism nonprofit in our area and a licensed counselor comes once a month for free for our parent support group. She also privately sees many of the kids and teens on the spectrum that utilize that nonprofit organization, as well as counsels the parents. She's just become very well versed in autism and I'd probably have my daughter see her over a child psychologist (once my daughter gets to the point of really understanding and utilizing language) just because I know she does that day in and day out, teaching coping skills to people on the spectrum.

Me too, because his teacher asked if we were given extensive information. She talked to the school ABA certified teacher and the person in charge of writing behavior plans and they don't know what to do. They went to the school counselor and psychologist. No luck there either. His current issue is he tells them he's the boss. He tries it at home and he goes in time out. It helps but at school he doesn't back down. He's very well behaved in the gen Ed class. Except for today he sat under the desk. Because he didn't feel like sitting at the desk. Can't make me. Hurray for being verbal.
I was able to get him in with a psychologist who specializes in neurology and psychology. A few cities over but really only a half hour away. His first appointment is next Monday.
