Do you think it looks like bragging to show off an expensive gift?

A friends husband got her a beautiful diamond necklace for Christmas but she was hesitant to show it in a group thinking it may look like bragging. I told her that real friends would be happy for her . What do you think?

I agree with YOU. I would have encouraged her too and I would not have felt jealous at all.

It really depends how they frame it. There is a difference between "Look at my new camera! It is a Nikon s8100 - top of the line point and shoot!" to "Look at my new camera! It is awesome! It cost $300 I feel so spoiled!"

Nah,she's not like that. I had to talk her into showing it. I would be ecstatic if my dh came up with something like that for Christmas. They have been married about 40 yrs so I think she earned it anyway.lol

Hi,if you envy the necklace save up and treat yourself to it:)

If you envy the spoiling.....ask dh to spoil you.

If he doesnt know how to spoil you....teach him.

If hes not the spoiling type go back to the beginning of my post.

And "no" I wouldnt get jealouse of her diamond necklace....lets see it!:)

I don't see nothing wrong with showing it but to brag about it that's different...I can't stand braggers.. But to show what you got not a problem at all.

I agree...and there are ways to go about showing something without showing off!

To me, bragging is in the attitude not the item.

I would be showing it off! I don't see how being excited about a gift could be considered bragging... Unless the person complaining is just being mean.
