Walking Dead' star mum about show's mystery

NEW YORK (AP) — Andrew Lincoln, who stars as Sheriff Rick Grimes in "The Walking Dead," says he loves a secret.

That's partly why Lincoln has told no one the answer to what's become the biggest mystery of the AMC zombie drama: What scientist Dr. Jenner whispered to Rick in the season one finale.

"Not even my wife knows what he whispered to me," Lincoln said in an interview Wednesday.

Lincoln said that in keeping the secret he feels he is being true to his character in the show.

"He chooses not to tell people so why would I tell," Lincoln said of the sheriff.

What was said has only been heard by a handful of people, and the mystery has become the object of intense scrutiny by fans.

Lincoln said he realized just how curious people were when a show editor revealed he had scrolled through hours of show footage and listened in on radio traffic to find the only two takes where the brief remarks were audible. The cast says the contents of the conversation will be revealed this season.

Lincoln, who says the comments are "pivotal" for Rick, hints that the message was not good news.

"This is a scientist who seemingly held all the cards to what this epidemic is about and I do think, you know, you would imagine he would have something of value to say on that matter," Lincoln said. "Well, he chose to kill himself."

The actor also said that Rick and his ragged group of survivors will likely leave the farm where they've taken refuge this season.

"Something happens and they realize very quickly that the farm is not as secure as they may think," he said.

The series continues Sunday at 9 p.m. EST (0200 GMT).

I think he told them they were all infected and it's not the bite that makes them zombies

I've heard that before, but there was a point brought up (can't remember what it is now) that refuted it.  Maybe it was someone that died, but didn't turn (although I can't remember that happening) or that if that were the case, then they wouldn't need the bite to turn.  But it was probably something completely different.  lol

While the bite definately gives you an infection that kills you...not sure it is the thing that makes one a zombie

The theory I read talked about how could they take over so fast...and the answer was anyone that died after a certain point became a walker..that would give a lot more zombies to fight off

My husband and I think that Rick was somehow either infected, but the coma cured him, or that he's 100% immune, that's how he got out of the hospital alive.  But we're also not HUGE zombie fans, so what do we know. lol

That would be awesome!  Especially if they're travelling while she's a zombie.  lol

I just read an article where the actress that plays Lori said that in season two, a lot of characters will die.  So far, we've lost one, and that's Sophia, right?  It was an interview that she gave just before episode 1 of season 2 aired.

I think Lori may have lost the baby in the car wreck.

I also think in a HUGE twist from the graphic novels, they may kill off Carl. Reason being, if the show goes on for several years, there is no way to keep him the same age. I revert back to Walt on Lost. They had to get rid of him, growth spurt.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the sister on the farm that passed out and has the fever.  She wasn't bitten, possibly scratched but that hasn't been said yet.  Maybe the virus will mutate into one that is transmitted by air (I know there's a term for that but my damned brain is currently off) and Jenner told Rick something like that.  I know that's a long shot because whatever he told him wasn't that long really.  I think something new is up with the sister and unless she was scratched, now this is a new way of catching it.

Just my theory and it's typed before coffee so take it as you will.  :)
