your chickens start to lay their eggs? Our oldest chicks are 3 months old maybe a bit older now. When do you think they'll start to lay?

Side questions. How did you tell the rooster from the hens apart? Obviously when they start to mature in looks and crow then we'll now, but as of now is there a definate way to tell?

as for the Rooster hen part... Look at their wings. The best way to tell them apart is when they are chicks and their feathers are just starting. If you spread their wings the feathers will either be all even with each other or they will be long short long short, etc.. the even ones mean rooster and uneven mean hen. As for the laying, 6-7 months depending on breed, some could take upwards to 9 months or so.
