bottle cutting??

has anyone tried the whole bottle cutting... light the yarn on fire thing?  I am thinking about it but then one blog I read said you need to pre-score another says go at it... just thought I would post out into the craftiness...

I got about 12 bottles that need something done to it besides recycling....  and I rent so I can do the whole garden wall thing...

if I do it, I'll let you know...  I was thinking I shoud do it now while there is snow on the ground and I can chuck it if it gets too scary...  i am such a wimp

Dh tried it, but he didn't score it first - it didn't go very well, lol!

He tied a rope soaked in something (acetone, maybe?) And lit it on fire. He didn't get burned at all :)

I tried it once with the string and i didnt get a nice cut    I guess it depends on what you want it for  I want to get a real bottle cutter

I want some of those cups. :) I have never tried it though.

I have a glass scorer. Not sure if it I can use that first. I was going to do yarn and paint thinner. I'll keep you posted
