Nook/Kindle Cover Closure *Need Opinions!*

Im about to make a few Nook/Kindle cases in the same style as I've posted before. I will also be taking pictures and posting the tutorial for it on my blog for those who would rather make their own =) But my question is...what type of closure do you prefer?

A magnetic snap closure like these?

Or a velcro closure like these?

I'd prefer magnetic :)

but... the magnet would affect the tablet in any way right? I'm not that tech savvy so if that's a stupid question sorry.

I agree with Melli, I don't know if it's safe to put magnets near them.. But if it is, definitely magnets!

Good question! The basic case you can get for your nooks have a hidden magnetic closure - and there will be 2 layers of thick interfacing/cardboard between the snap and the fabric next to the nook.

I like magnetic too!  For me the velcro gets crap stuck in it then it is a pain to clean out and sometimes it comes open...the magnetic seems more secure? not sure if that is the right word.  The covers are very cute though!!!

2 moms liked this

I.T. major here... I am going to say that it is more than likely ok. Here is the reason. Hard drives are messed by magnets because the head that reads the hard drive is magnetic. With that being said what is the one thing you computer tower and your case differ. You have a fabric in between the snap and the tablet. It would also take a powerful magnet. People say fridge magnets can mess up computers, but in all honesty it would take a lot of them or a very strong magnet.

SO LONG STORY SHORT - your fine. The magnet is not strong enough to mess up the tablet.. AND it has a fabric in between it and the tablet...

as a Computer technician i have replaced many hard drives cuz magnets have erased them... i was taught in college magnets are a no no as it can erase the hd and if over the years the material wears, the magnet may come in contact with the kindle (if it has a hard drive) n erase it!! i am not sure how the magnet snaps are made but just wanted to let u know what i know so keep that in mind
