My first attempt.

Today while helping DD make some Valentine crafts for my sisters I decided to finally attempt my heatable rice neck pillow.  The peppermint tea bags I stuck in there didn't omit any odor when I microwaved it :o(    but the pillow stayed warm for quite a while.  I didn't have a patter......just kinda drew it out by hand and trimmed as I went......no sewing machine either.

What do you girls think?  I want to make one for my dad tomorrow because he's always suffering from migraines....any suggestions on scents I can add in there?

Please excuse the mess in my craftroom....I'm a borderline hoarder.

Thank you. :o)  It was hard to do a good job because DD needed help with her project but it was a lot of fun.  I made it from a thick, soft bath towel I got from MIL......not sure what fabric I'll use for my dad's tomorrow.

Love the colors and what a great idea using a bath towel.   As for your fathers heating pad.  I read somewhere that green apple scents help with migraines.

wow, im impressed! it sounds like a lot of work with no sewing machine, but it looks great. i make these a lot too, i love them. i recently started using essential oils in them. if you use the tea, it might help to open the bags so its loose tea, but then you might get the tea poking out of the fabric (unless you used a heavier cotton).

just a couple drops of oil does it for me. i learned that from someone else on here. i was too scared to try it before.

Thank you.  I was worried that the rice or especially the tea if I took it out of the bag.  It was pretty time consuming because I had to make small stitches and backstitch all the way around...I was so worried they's sneak out but they didn't. :o)    I don't have any essential oils at the moment but I'm going ot go pick some up tomorrow to finish my dad's. Thank you for the great tips.
