I'm wanting to make a shelf like this for my house, but I can't find apple crates anywhere! Any idea where I could find them, or an item I could use instead?

Do you have any local apple orchards? We have several around here that sell their used crates at the end of the season. Or you could try putting and ad on freecycle or craigslist. You might find someone who has them for cheap or free, Good luck

Thanks! I didn't think about apple orchards, but I may have to look into that!

Cool! This is not as cool as the pic you posted....but we bought wooden crates from a.c. moore and turned them into bookshelves for the kids. Same idea....but not as nice of wood as an old apple crate would be.

They don't have to be real nice wood, I plan to paint them, but I likes the concept mostly. It's a neat alternative to a metal or particle board shelf.

My husband says he's going to remove me from pinterest! Lol

Call around to Apple Orchards. See if they have any old ones laying around that they are getting rid of. Sometimes they will just give them to you or sell them for like $5-10.
