need a soft, sturdy fabric

For cloth napkins. It must be soft. I just realized tonight my 5 year old uses his sleeve instead of a napkin because its softer. He has spd and the paper napkins hurt the sensitive area around his mouth. I cant even touch him there without him crying in pain.
ideas?

could you maybe use jersey knit on one side, flannel on the other? or maybe terry, and that way your son could use the jersey knit side

I should mention flannel isn't an option. Its the strangest thing but ds and I cannot breathe around that stuff

Maybe. He does seem to like his Jersey shirts for his face. Hmmm
