First let me premise this by saying I do not consider myself an expert crafter...more of a dabbler...with that being said, I found ths really cute craft on pinterest http://www.thriftycraftygirl.com/2011/12/25-days-of-christmas-ornament-tree.html so I decided to try it myself and this is how it came out:

I was thinking of giving them to a few family members as a gift along with the cookies/candies I am baking.

Tell me, what do you think of the big poinsettia?? to big?? just right??

*edit* now that I look at it...the poinsettia is REALLY BIG...almost turns the tree into a Windmill :0

What a great idea.I know how you feel, I am not very good with those kinds of crafts. Yours came out very nice, and the bow is perfect.It's a nice way to welcome new family members. holding gifts

I like the ornament tree, not sure I'm a fan of the poinsettia. As you mention in the post, it's really big and seems to take away from the rest of it.

I think the body of it is gorgeous, but I do think the poinsettia is too big; makes it look unbalanced.
But the tree part is awesome!!

I agree.. the tree is gorgeous, but the pointsettia is distracting from the tree.

I may try a smaller flower just to see how it compares, but overall I think it is super cute and would put it out in my house if I got it as a gift.

Like the tree but the pointsettia is too large IMO and overwhelms it. you can find smaller flower pics that be more suitable. They also often have stars this time of year in most floral sections. You could also make your own star topper with some heavy gauge wire-just wrap around the outside of a cookie cutter to shape it.
