I need help from you ladies who knit. I have a pattern for fingerless gloves that I want to do but I want to do it in sock weight yarn rather than the sport weight yarn it calls for. How do I adjust for the difference?

Quoting beckolette:

Cute pattern and yes it is simple. The thumb is the hardest part of making mittens, gloves and hand warmers. I like the long arm style. Don't over think the M1 left and right. use Utube videos.

I love the length too. I havent figured out how to do the thumb part yet and this will be the first time ive done a M1L or M1R. This will also be my first on circular needles. Are they all pretty simple? or am I going to mess it up?
