iron on patch

hi ladies.
I'm making an apron for a friend. I have an iron on patch I need to apply. I want to sew it too, because it is an apron and will need to be washed at some point.

Should I iron it on then sew or sew then iron?

I'll post a pic when I'm done putting the patch on.

I would iron, then sew. (If I tried to sew it first, I probably wouldn't make it flat enough and it would look all wrinkly when ironed, lol.)

ETA: Don't listen to me! The next response says to sew first, and she is clearly more experienced than me! :)

SEW   IT   FIRST!!!!!!!!!! When you iron you activate the glue then when you go to sew it on your needle will get sticky and you will have one big mess on your hands!!!!!

I have only delt with iron on patches with Girl Scouts, but trust me the you want to sew it first. If you iron first you will have to hand sew (which I do anyway) and have alcohol on hand to clean the needle every time you pull it threw.
