Go Green: Upcycle - Turn Your Trash Into Treasure!...and WIN Prizes!
It's Time to Upcycle!
Try to reuse and re-purpose existing items rather than trashing them. You can take used shirts, sweaters, crayons and other ordinary items and turn them into creative gifts and works of art!
Here is how you can make a bird feeder out of a gallon jug.
This activity will not only be fun for the whole family, but it will also help teach your kids about upcycling!
Empty 1 gallon plastic jug, Marker, Scissors,Twine or heavy string, Miscellaneous items to use as decoration (fabric, stickers, glue, etc), Bird Food
Directions to make the bird feeder:
- Thoroughly clean a used gallon container. Draw a circle with a marker and then cut out the center.
- Poke a hole in the cap, thread the twine through the hole, and double knot the twine underneath the cap (you can also tie the string to the handle).
- Once your bird feeder is finished, have your kids decorate it and fill the bird feeder with food!
Reply to this post and let us know if you upcycle.
Can you think of some ways you could re-purpose and reuse items in your home rather than throw them away?
