Made these with my daughter and husband last night. My daughter added the food coloring. seperated the twizzlers and stacked the cakes.
1 White cake
1 container of icing (any flavor you wont see it)
Large straw(for making holes)
Small cookie cutter
Make cake batter as directed
Seperate into 3 equal parts
in 1 add blue food coloring
in 1 add red food coloring
(make sure you add enough to make them blue and red(not pink)
spread into cake pan it will be a very thin layer that is fine. it will bake just fine.
I used pillsbury cake mix baked at 350 for 11 minutes, did this 3 times (once for each color)
imediately out of the oven i cut the circles and removed from pan i found it didnt stick that way, you may need to spray your pan to make sure it doesnt stick.
I cooled my cakes in the refridgerator. I got 23 cakes out of the batter i used a 1 1/2 inc cookie cutter
Put icing between layers using blue white and red in each stack. Just enough to hold them together.
Punch your hole in the middle i used a straw thats what i had but can use anything. keep the red and blue peices but cut them in half thats all you need.
place the blue half in the bottom of each one. put in twizlers (red or black)for the wick.
Fill the rest of the way with pop rocks
Top with red half center
TaDa a Firework perfect for that pitch in you are going to for 4th of july, and the kids will love them!
