I just wanted to vent and this is totally off topic.

So of you may remember the accident I was in back in November 2012. I was rear-ended bc some jackass was reaching for his cell phone he dropped. I seen my regular doctor and a chiropractor for months. Each told me they didn't see this being anything long term. I didn't get a lawyer. X-rays done by the chiropractor showed nothing broken. My regular doctor finally released me in august with as good as I will get. I asked her last spring if she thought I should have a MRI done. She said she would if I wanted but didn't think it was necessary. I didn't push it. I should have. Over the course of seeing her I tried several things.
Injections
Steroids
Anti-inflammatorys
Nerve medication
Massage therapy
Physical therapy

It would all work temporary. But since she released me and we really needed the money to be reimbursed for all our expenses we had already spent, we settled. We settled for much less than I wanted to settle for.

Well it's been getting worse. The back pain. She finally sent me for a MRI once I told her the pain was now in my leg as well. Turns out I have 2 bulging discs and arthritis in my back. I can pretty much guarantee it's from the accident. Arthritis can be caused by "trauma to a joint". Yep. Well she now wants me to see a pain specialist so we can discuss my options. Well that's more injections and if that doesn't work, surgery.

My MRI bill just came in the mail and it was $1,800. My insurance is covering $600 of it since we have a deductible. If they knew it was related to the accident they may not cover any. I could cry. Well forget that, I am crying. We haven't even gotten to the expenses I will have from the specialist and god forbid I have to have surgery.

I knew I should not have settled. I knew, in the end, I should've went ahead and got a lawyer. But the truth is? We couldn't afford to wait any longer. Now we are screwed.

Vent over. If you made it this far then thank you.

:-( I'm so sorry. I don't really have anything to say that would make you feel any better. Is it too late now to file anything for the accident?

Why was your doc not with you on getting the MRI? I'm glad they figured out what's wrong though; hopefully they can get you some relief soon!!

I am so sorry you have experienced this.  Look at your settlement papers and ensure they say FOREVER RELEASE.  I've worked in personal injury for over a decade and have seen situations like yours happen too often.

I'm not sure. I may talk to a lawyer just to see if I have any options.

She kept saying that it was just pain from inflammation and it would be temporary.

Thanks. Someone else has mentioned to me that people usually never even try to go back on it because they think they can't when often times they can. Also I'm not sure if this matters or if there is anything I can do about it but the guy who hit me was working and driving a company vehicle. Someone mentioned me going after the company.

I never got a lawyer because I didn't realize how bad it was. I didn't think I would still be dealing with this. I listened to the professionals when they said it wasn't bad. I'm not the type of person who is sure happy and after money but I'm here to tell you that all the money in the world wouldn't be worth the pain I am dealing with over this.

I hate to say it but if I ever get into another accident the first thing I will do is go to the hospital for testing and the second would be getting a lawyer. This was/is a hard hard lesson learned.
