This morning, I received an email that I was nominated for a Double-Goal Coach award through the Positive Coaching Alliance.
I'm so excited and confused! haha. I have no idea who nominated me but i'm truly honored.
Positive Coaching Alliance focuses on creating a positive, character-building sports experience and they have trainings and workshops to do this. I am a huge believer in it. The Double-Goal coaching philosophy is winning on the scoreboard and, most importantly, teaching kids life lessons through sports.
I focus so much on the above philosophy when I coach and I can see the difference it makes on their perspective of playing sports. To me, it allows us to go back to the real benefits of youth sports and not just winning.
I will know on FEbruary 19th if I'm a finalist (only 50 people across the country). After that I will be notified if I'm a winner of the award (not sure how many people win). If I win, I get $250 and included on one of their publications.
