I have a cat and I heard that if I get pregnant we need to get rid of her. I know it's because of toxemia or however you spell it but is there a way around it?

From what i understand you can keep your cat as long as you dont change the cat liter or something like that, all of my family has cats and never had a problem as long as they did change the cat liter! but GL :-) ill be looking for the answer to this myself lol but im pretty sure its just about the cat liter .. i know im not getting rid of my cat when i get my BFP .. lol

As the PP said, no you don't have to get rid of your cat. You just can't be near the litterbox and you can't change the litterbox.

I have never heard of that, and have had friends who were pregnant and had cats...

Its just the cat litter. While preggo make DH change the litter. Other than that you should be fine. And dont be afraid to touch your cat! LOL! It will be fine dear!

I wanted a pet cat and I decided against it for this very reason.

Here's a good article that explains it all and tells you the cat can stay:-)!

there is a way around it... you cannot change the litter box.. someone else would have to do it. thats where the toximia or however its spelled mainly comes from... otherwise, i believe you are ok...
