I Am Back! + Question about IUI

So a little update on me!: I finally got insurance to cover infertility treatments and went and saw a specialist. Had blood drawn, HSG (which was extremely painful!) and DH had his SA and blood drawn. DH's SA came back perfect and actually above average so nothing wrong with him. My HSG came out fine and my labs showed that I def do have PCOS. Our plan will be doing 3 cycles of IUI with clomid and trigger shot. If they don't work then we will go to IVF. Now I just need this next cycle to start so we can get this show on the road!! Hopefully this will be it! Any ladies that did IUI, was it painful? I know when the catheter was inserted for the HSG I had a lot of cramping, is it the same type of feeling?

I'm glad all of your testing came out well :)  I just did my first IUI yesterday.  It was not painful at all.  It was just very nervewracking!  I felt the cathider going in, but it didn't hurt.  The procedure took about 10 minutes, if that...then I had to lay down for 15 minutes.  They said I have no restrictions.  We were told to bd that night and the next to optimize our chances!  Good luck to you!  I was also on 50 mg of clomid and the trigger.

Thanks! That helps ease my nerves a little. I was wondering if they made u lay down for a certain amount of time or not lol. Well good luck to you!

IUI for me was not painful at all. They still use the metal speculum like when you get a pappsmear (sp?). My RE liked to clean my lining first, so I could feel the cotton swab moving around- but not painful. It took DH and I 4 IUIs before it worked so my biggest advice to you is to try to stay positive and don't give up! :) best of luck to you- and I hope IUI has the same outcome for you!

We just did our first IUI last Thursday!  I was mildly uncomfortable for the rest of the day and had some cramping but it wasn't that bad.  Hoping for some good news in a couple weeks!  Not sure how many cycles we are going to do but good luck to you.

We have our 1st appointment with a fertility specialist tomorrow. Hopefully he recommends IUI for us. Good to hear what's involved and that it's not painful.
