How did you...(homeschool groups/co-ops)

...find your homeschool group/co-op? I'm wanting to get my family involved with an organization that fits our needs. I've been doing research, but haven't come up with much in my area. I emailed on organization and have yet to hear back. Short of starting my own group...which I'm hesitant to do...I'm thinking their may be some resources that I've missed. I'm in the Dallas Fort-worth area of Texas. Thanks~

We found many through our other groups.

We belong ot a parents group and a play group and both have an eloop-I found out about many co-ops and such through those two groups. I also belong to two other eloops that are much more relaxed and have no monthly meeting or anything, rather parents just share info online and if they are going on a field trip you are free to announce it and invite other group members to meet up with you.

All these eloops are just Yahoo groups.

Also, look on HSLDA to find groups in your area.

Don't forget to check with your local library.

I googled and googled. We are in north DFW area....for me it was easy. I'm not a Christian and there finally popped up ONE group I would fit into. 

THAT narrowed it down! LOL! (I am not anti- more the other way around. I'd be in the groups, but they want me to sign a statement of faith...so I'd accept them, but they wouldn't accept me! Which is okay, it just is what it is)

I'm assuming that eloop is a term for online groups, so correct me if I'm wrong. I'll def be checking the HSLDA. I did check at the library and they had nothing to offer. I haven't been on yahoo in a loooooooong time, lol. I'll see about getting an account and searching there. Thanks Chica, bests~

Understandable, glad you found a group! I'm in Arlington and looking for a Christian group. Thanks for the info, I'm an avid Googler *grin*.

I bet you have lots to choose from in Dallas/Ft. Worth.  I'm sure you will find something that really clicks.

I have been reduced to such desperation here in our little, one horse town that I have even tried to start my own - to no avail.

Oh yeah....we do a lot IN Dallas actually because it offers so much. But I actually live about an hour out, in a teeny little town...so I'm a *home* schooler that spends over $600 a WEEK in gas.....sigh.....
