I love this book because it can be used over and over again for many years! Here's why (copied from an article about the book):

What specifically will you find in Children's Literature?

  • Mother Goose and Nursery Rhymes
  • Traditional Fairy Tales - Broken down by country of origin
(Examples: France - Beauty and the Beast / German - Elves and the Shoemaker
  • Modern Fairy Tales
(Authors such as Hans Christian Anderson and Oscar Wilde)
  • Fables and Symbolic Stories
(Authors isuch as Aesop and Benjamin Franklin)
  • Myths
    (Greek, Roman and Norse)
  • Poetry
(Examples: Follen's The Three Little Kittens / Longfellow's Day is Done)
  • Realistic Stories
(Example - Gift of the Magi)
  • Nature Literature
(Authors such as Beatrix Potter and Rudyard Kipling)
  • Romance and Legends
