a hunk of venison?hahahaha
lets see i read an article they took their lunches in buckets or baskets, a sandwich consisting of a hunk of venison or rabbit or squirrel on some homemade bread, maybe some home made cheese, no mayo! a piece of fruit like an apple if they saved some in the cellar

Quoting hipmamma83:Sweet and thank you ladies . I think Our lunch will be squirrel , apple , bread and a cookie .
Sounds like a fun day.
I would pack something like traveling food if you're going out, like jerky, cheese and bread. It's simple to go out with the kids with, and something that even back in that time period a person would pack if they would go out on horseback and be away for awhile.
