We are doing a day as a family would in 1800 . However I haven't done my homework :( I was wanting kids to pack lunches for our school day. So what the heck do we pack ? Lol

lets see i read an article they took their lunches in buckets or baskets, a sandwich consisting of a hunk of venison or rabbit or squirrel on some homemade bread, maybe some home made cheese, no mayo! a piece of fruit like an apple if they saved some in the cellar

there might be something here http://www.essentially-england.com/english-food-in-the-1800s-what-did-we-eat.html

sounds like a fun project!!!1

I know LHOP is just a show but they go with their lunch in buckets. And the youngest child carries the lunch pail.

I would pack something like traveling food if you're going out, like jerky, cheese and bread.  It's simple to go out with the kids with, and something that even back in that time period a person would pack if they would go out on horseback and be away for awhile.
