Teaching a lefty penmanship

My 3.5 yo is starting to work on his letters and numbers right now, in our preschool curriculum. He is a lefty, and is having trouble writing the way I'm instructing him.

Is there somewhere that can show me the proper way to teach him letter formation? I didn't have this issue with my 6yo because he's a righty.

I'm a lefty and I was taught how to write the same way you teach a righty. Just slant the paper the opposite way and follow the arrows. ;)

I'm not sure how I would explain. I got a Zaner-Blosr book that had directions n pictures for righty n lefty and we went through that.

I'm a lafty and so is DH so for us, it was harder to teach the righty boys!

Handwriting without tears is supposed to be a good program for lefty's as well as righty's. So far I've only had to teach my dd1 who is right handed, but my dd2 is left handed, so I'm sure I'll have a challenge.

This is something I have been dreading because Jared is favoring his left ALOT, we are sure he will stay a lefty. I am going to be sitting down with his uncle who is also a lefty and watching him write so that I get an idea how its done when I start the writing with him.

Very good to know! I wouldn't have thought of slanting the paper the other way, and that is so common sense! Thanks!

LOL Luckily, my Bff is a lefty so if any of my kids turn out to be south paws, I'll have someone to turn to.
