My daughter is 6 and loves to read. She loves Junie B. Jones as her free time reading books, but we only have a few left that she hasn't read yet! Do your children have a certain series they like to read?

Some Julia is interested in:

Junie B Jones
Katie kazoo switcheroo
Unicorn school
My secret unicorn (I think that's it)
She has read one or two Judy moody books
Stuart little

She also likes Ramona quimby.

We read a lot of classics for family story time (trumpet of the swan, pinocchio, etc) so these are just her free reading books.

I was going to suggest Beverly Cleary (the Ramona books). She was a favorite of mine when I was young. She has a whole series of books about other children as well. The Little House books are good, A Little Princess, I'd even conside starting the Harry Potter series if she is closer to 7-8. The first books are very good, but the later ones are more for older children since they are so dark. If she is an advanced reader, maybe the Anne books by L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables, ect.).

Ooh, she would love those little house and Anne books! She is super sensitive, so I think we will wait a year or so for Harry potter. Everything gives this kid nightmares.
I haven't heard of a little princess, I'll check that out too :) thank you!

The Magic TreeHouse series was huge with my daughter.

What about the Little Princess and The Secret Garden?

I'm not sure what age group Nancy Drew was wrote for, but maybe that?

Missie also liked the American Girl books.

Oprah.com has a book list for kids. There is a link for 6-9 year olds. Some maybe too mature than you'd like, but it maybe worth looking into. :)

also, we've found some age-appropriate versions of classics...Little Princess, Heidi, Black Beauty, etc....we only have Books A Million near us, but they tend to have a pretty good collection
