Alternatives to Writing Strands

I have used writing strands in the past with my older child. I am trying to make out a plan for my younger children right now. Although I can't say anything negative about Writing Strands, it was a little boring for us. Can anyone recommed another good writing/creative writing program? We will be using Rod and Staff English and Hnadwriting w/o Tears, but need that extra creative writing in between. Thanks!

Have you ever done any writing involving poetry?   My daughter loves to write short stories and poetry.

I stop using abeka after 2nd grade. I am looking for just a writing program.
