Any NC Homeschoolers? Help please...

Just a few questions.

How do I pick dates when school officially starts and ends?  Holiday breaks... dates for those?

Do they care which curriculum you use?

We're just doing 1st grade for my 6 1/2 year old and kindergarten for my 5 1/2 year old, but I'm thinking about starting DS (5 1/2) with 1st grade too b/c he did the K stuff with DD last year.  They are only 14 months apart so I figure it would be easier and just fine to have them in the same "grade".

And also.  How did you name your school?

Thanks for the advice.  We're new at this and don't want to screw anything up.

Hey there, it's been a few years since we lived in NC, but the last time I looked at the hs laws there it was 180 days/attendance records, shot records, and yearly testing for ages 8 to 16yrs. That's it. Anything other than those 3 regulations it totally up to you. School year round if you want, take breaks when you want, and use whatever curriculum you want.
Please check the current regs at hslda.org to be sure. You may not need to report anything to the state yet, at your kids ages!
