Help me impress an 8-year-old!!!

I'm tending an 8 year old little boy today. Last time he was over it was pretty obvious that my bag of tricks (simple science experiments) that I use to impress my preK and K coop kiddos was really "uncool"
He's not supposed to get too dirty (so our backyard mud put is out!) and the toys we have are all educational and preschool aged.
Halp!!

Any kind of cool kitchen science experiment should do the trick.

Have him help you bake something or make homemade ice cream.

 hahaha

Now I'm hungry too.  I would go with the cookie idea. You can make several simple cookies such as oatmeal cookies or sugar cookies.  :)
