So my second grader is halfway through the book Peter and the Starcatchers. I was concerned at first that it would be way too hard for him (it's at a 6th grade reading level), but that was the book he wanted. He's flying through the book and he understands it (he's been telling me all about it after his silent reading time.) When we had a week at camp I took a couple of those Magic Treehouse books for him and he read all 3 by Thursday (and he was only reading for the half hour his brothers were in the pool for lessons). So can I get a list of books that he'll enjoy that aren't way over his head maturity wise (like twilight or the hunger games) but isn't beneath his reading level to the point of boredom or not stretching him any? He's almost through all the Roald Dahl books I have. We are planning a trip to the book store in September, so I'd like a nice big list by the time we go!
There are tons of great books out there I would just let he lose in the library & pick what ever he wants to try in the children's & young adult sections.

A library would be very nice; however our closest library is 40 mnutes away and would cost our family $180 each year! Yeah, I can buy a whole lot of books for that! ($36 per card, need a card for each family member, no exceptions, and they don't care that we homeschool)
Thanks everyone!! I pulled a bunch of books out of my stacks that I hadn't even been thinking of! I had all the Narnia books in with the CS Lewis religious books And Jack London in with the other "complete works" books. He has a whole lot of books in his section now, and we have a nice little list to take to the book store next month! YAY!

We've done amazon bfore and we love it, but the boys like to go somewhere and touch the books. Xavier says he loves the smell of all those new books in one room! LOL So we make 2 trips to a BAM every year when school "starts" and middle of January.
