So we made it through our first day but barely. I dont really know how we did. I feel like they got part of what I taught but then other parts I felt like it made no since to them. I felt like maybe I wasn't very prepared, or maybe just am not good enough. Over all I guess it worked out. I ended up doing science first with all of them together, then I worked with my oldest while my younger son played educational games, then they switched. We started at 8:00 and were done by 10:30...is that normal. Did we do enough?? My oldest did Science, Math, Reading, and Spelling. And my youngest did science, math, and english.
Any suggestions ladies?? And how long do take to plan out the next days lessons. I feel like I have been working on our first week for months, and now I need to figure out what to do the next week. And I hate the thought of struggling to come up with whats next and having to use every minute of every day on it like I did for the first week. How much time do you take planning?
Just do what comes natural. If you aren't busy every minute of everyday you get to spend some time with your kids. We are usually done with the day by noon. I think you did fine.
Yep, looks like you did fine! Once you get the hang of it, the planning gets easier and faster.
It takes a little bit to get into your groove and build confidence. It's normal to feel a little discombobulated in the beginning.
That's how we explain it too. You sound like you did great Mama! Don't stress, just relax and know that you ARE good enough and you know what's best for your kidlets. It's a learning process, and the best part is, nothing is set in stone. You'll find easier ways along your journey and little tricks, trust me, it does get easier.
Wow! You did great for your first day! You have nothing to worry about. And let me tell, Ithought i wasn't getting across to my kids either when I first started teaching them. However, I found out a couple of months later that what I was teaching WAS sinking in and being retained! They just didn't bother to let me in on it. LOL I know this because I was having a conversation about one of them with my husband and they just happened to be tuned in and started telling Me what a certain lesson was about. My jaw hit the floor! AND my husband was also in the process of telling me to not worry about it that the kids were learning and I would see. I say all of this just to tell you that the same thing will happen with you. You think they aren't learning right now because of what the situation looks like, but I assure you, they R learning! You just wait and see! : )
As for planning, you will get the hang of it in time. You just have to find your speed and nack. It will come. The best thing about you homeschooling your kids... You get to grow up with them at you're all's speed. Whatever speed that is. And you get to enjoy one another and have fun your way. Not how its dictated to you by a set of circumstances outside your control.
You did great mom! : )
hey this is your first day! you did it!! great nora!!! you will get use to it, things will get easier for you, keep going ! 2/12 hours is good,
i dont plan out next days lessons, i do a week at a time cuz i cant think that quick!hahahaha i need to sit and mull it over in my brain! i plan my lessons out every fri evening or saturday for the next week,
to do a lesson plan for a week(ive been doing it awhile now) takes me for 5 kids, sometimes 7 kids(3-14)( about a half hour to an hour. sometimes less.
