It is really sad when 2 high school teaches and the school counselor told me that I don't need to go around telling ppl that I homeschool and that I think its awesome . They also told me that it was too much work and took too much discipline to homeschool. They can't stand to be around their kids that way ...and these people teach !

I would have to tell them that I don't think it is any of their business WHO I tell that I homeschool and that I think it is awesome.

Hopefully, for the kids that they teach, THEY can handle the work load and all of the discipline that it takes. WOW, so glad my child is homeschooled.

That would make me all the more determined to tell the truth as you are.

Exactly. Makes me wonder what they are turning a blind eye to, as I'm sure it would be too much work and would take too much discipline to deal with it or to do something to stop it/rectify the situation. These are not the type of people/teachers/administrators that I want interacting with my child.

That is really sad.  I think they just need an attitude adjustment.  I may not want to teach 30 highschoolers that is a lot of work, but I would teach all four of mine as highschoolers when they get there.  I think that would be fun.

I would have said some not nice things to them!

I get their sentiment, I've seen it a lot.  They think 1) they are TRAINED to handle it and you are not :-(

2) They can leave the students after the 7 hour with them and you never get to leave.

and 3)  Your own kids are much harder to discipline than someone else's kids.

Lots of assumptions on their part.  If they listed their assumptions and views on what we do each day, it would really floor you!
