memory work?

We had an awesome first day back. I gave DS(5) his memory work for the week. We said it together 5 times. 3 hours later, in the car, he was saying it verbatim....which is great but do I keep at it for the whole week or give him new memory work?

This is what we do with our memory verses.  If my daughter can say it for three days without making a mistake then we move on.  If by the 2nd day she can say without pausing or making amistake then we will go ahead and move on to another verse.

What are you guys doing for memory work? I've never done much memorization with my kids. Is it bible verses and such?

We don't use bible verses. We use short poems, fingerplays, nursery rhymes, etc... This week they are:

K'er
Morning has come
Night is away
We rise with the sun
To welcome the day

Pre-K'er
See the little mousie
Creeping up the stair
Looking for a warm nest
There oh there

I'd make sure he can repeat it over night a few times before moving on. Good for him and his sharp memory.
