My older kids (10 & 8) just joined JBQ at church about a month ago. They've never been in this before, and they were up against kids who've done it for a few years.
My son (the 8 yr old) won third place for his age group out of the whole district!!! He played at the Rookie level.
My 10 yr old was really upset because she knew the answers but wasn't quick enough. There are three levels, though... Rookie, Minors, and Majors. Being new, she should have played minors, but it's a team event, so she had to be bumped up to Majors to fill a spot on a team. I'm just proud she competed and knew enough to be up there. I told her that was a huge honor in the first place... especially after only studying these quesitons for a month!!!
They also wanted the kids to not be so shy, so our church leaders gave them all notebooks to get autographs. My 10 yr old got 50 names... coming in second place for that challenge too! (and this is the one that struggles socially with her peers)...
I'm so proud of my kids! They worked really hard on this!
