Yes, they're pretty well done.  I know at least four other homeschool families that are happily using it.  I usually give more for writing than what is in Winning with Writing, but those I know who are also using it state that they usually give less and it's perfect.

For all grade levels.  I make up all the curriculum that my kids learn. Then I will supplement with other materials like books given to us, books bought from a yard sale or library. I even use the web for lessons that I want to write.  I tailor them (the books)  to what it is I am specifically looking to teach or want  the kids to learn.

We used Growing with Grammar for a couple of years. I liked it for my oldest son because he can work independently but my youngest son needed something more interactive and multi-sensory because of his learning issues. This year, I switched both of them to Essentials in Writing and it is working out GREAT!! It is set up like Math U See. They watch the lessons on DVD and then do the worksheets. It's grammar AND writing and I've seen a big improvement this year with both of their writing skills, because the guy on the DVD breaks it down and explains everything step by step. It's not expensive either; only $40 for each grade level, which includes the lesson DVDs and a CD rom for printing the worksheets. We only print the worksheets as we need them, and I don't have to print all of them.
