I would hope we could. I really do love the simplicity of the old times and so does my husband, but with all the modern conveinces around it can be distracting.

We are trying to head in the direction of self sustainability but there is always a set back. Right now my goal is to be  able to live with out electricity and even water for a week.

No. I'm a city girl. I not care for farms & farm animals. Lol though I'd love to be off grid, I know it's not possible for me. But I wouldn't have to worry long. Without modern manufacturing I wouldn't have any of my medications.

We would definately survive, but I would miss a lot!!  Especially you ladies!  My computer has only been dead for a week and I've gone through all kinds of withdrawl!!  LOL

I would LOVE to go back to an older time.  I really miss hubby when he was gone all the time for work.  Now that he is working from home, it is so nice!  We can share much more of the load!  And think of the conversations you could have with neighbors since they would be home more.  You could trade recipes and help each other with the canning.  Ahh!  I'd love it!

Plus we still have enough food to feed a small army into the summer, so feel free to come learn how to save seed, tend animals, make a chain pump, anything you need to know for off grid survival!

What a wonderful thought. :)

Wouldn't it be a fun business to teach all the old ways to people?  Canning and orcharding, milking, egg collecting.  We have this awesome hand crank washer for our clothes, we don't use it often anymore, but it was easy to make and save my sanity when we had no elecrticity!  I hated the laundromat :-P

That would be such a wonderful class! I would go until the very end and learn every part of this kind of living.

I think I would rather use a hand crank than do it by hand on a rock or wash board. lol   I hate the laundromats myself.

That's what I thought too!  Our closest laundromat was an hour away, so we decided to give it a try.  The secret is letting the clothes soak.  Then you don't have to crank as much.  Plus my oldest was only little, but he loved to crank it!  It made lots of noise because we put rocks in as the agitator, and he would giggle every time he turned the handle!
