Quoting Atkins2010:😉Okay well I'm Mandy I home school both my girls ages 16 and 11 I also have a 2 yr old son with cp and who is autistic. I don't know anyone that home schools their children an we just moved about 4 hrs from everything an everyone we ever known. The girls are having hard time with not having that socialism they were use to and have asked go back to public school but my husband and I are against it but want them happy I don't know what to do
I am Crystal, and I homeschool my 15 and 12 year old boys. My advice would be to get plugged in to something, whether it is a co-op, a meet-up group, sports, the YMCA, robotics, church, anything that will help your kids get connected soon and fight off the feelings of being "alone." Yahoo and HSLDA are good places to start looking for local or nearby groups and things.
Getting my 15 yo daughter involved was soooo important to both of us. Luckily, we have several homeschool families at our church who were able to help us get involved in the local hs group. We've used the local library, YMCA, the art center, and university summer camps to stay involved outside the group, as well. Good luck!
And if you're close to base, there will definitely be other homeschoolers there. Check the base library and the Family Support Center to see if they know of any groups.
