"ALL electronics, including cell phones, are to be in the designated drawer or turned off by 7:00pm and will stay that way until morning" - this is a rule that I recently heard, and I love it, especially for teenagers with cell phones, tablets, computers, video games and all the other gadgets kids have today. Does your family have a rule like this?
Sounds like a good rule. You might consider a bit later time for older children or as they age. Thus we staggered their bed times and such, to reward maturing and growing up. Something for them to look forward to. Age equaled more responsibilities and privileges. Also their senior year of high school we basically took away all rules. Sort of a trial run on leaving the house for college.

No, we do not. DD11 is welcome to keep her cell phone on her - we know that her best friend isn't allowed to talk past 9 on school nights, so that isn't really a concern; also, she's often out playing in the neighborhood or riding bikes until well after dark and I prefer she have her cell phone on her. I do confiscate her ipad before bed, but that's around 10.
Does the rule go for the entire family? Lol - I couldn't do it. I usually call my mom and sisters later in the evening, my husband calls his father or a friend, etc.
I am a Home Schooling, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Stay at Home Mom. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities and nosy, involved parents. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it anywhere near my children. Now for the controversial stuff: we have traditional gender roles, we're Catholic, I'm Libertarian, he's Republican, we're both conservative, and we own guns (now there's no need to ask, lol). Aimee

My dd is going to be 10 so we don't have any cell phones yet but she does have an Ipod. Our rules for both her and her 4 year old brother is no electronics after dinnertime including TV or videogames. They have early bedtimes so it's not a big deal for them.
No. DS is only 9. He doesn't have a cell phone. He doesn't use his computer after dinner most days by his own choice. He has a Kendle Fire that he can use as long as he isn't in trouble for anything. I will probably have some kind of rule like that once he is older and his friends have cells and social media pages.
