Have you gone on any this week??
where'd ya go where ya goin?
Ds (12, 6th grade) had a trip to a local environmental center to learn about Wetlands. The center is right on a marsh and the kids learned all about the plants and animals in the marsh and tested the creek water. The brackish creek water comes in from the bay, which is mixed with New England river water and the Atlantic Ocean. The kids each got a testing kit and they tested for temperature, turbidity, oxygen levels, and pH level. Ds loved it.
Just got back from a tour of our County Courthouse. We toured a Court Room and spoke to a Judge, and saw the County Commissioners Office and spoke with two of them! Lots of fun and very interesting!
We went to the aquarium for a few hours today :) It has outdoor hiking trails, so we spent some time on them too. So much fun!! Next week, we're visiting family, so we'll be doing the zoo, the aquarium, and the butterfly pavilion (huge indoor tropical environment with thousands of butterflies flying around). And going up to the mountains. We're so excited!!!

We went to the community food bank and spent two hours stocking shelves. My daughter got a good lesson in why people have to shop there. I have to say I am a bit ashamed at sheltering her that much up until this point (she is 10yo).
She wants to go back and help next month.
