Hi all, I am mother to three, 9 year old girl, 5 year old boy and an *almost*3 year old girl. I live in Charlotte, MIchigan way out in the middle of nowhere : )
I started my homeschool journey when my daughter was 6. I pulled her out of PS about a month into her first grade year and every day, week, month, year that passes I find more reasons that solidify my decision! We've evolved into an unschooling family, seeing that it actually matches the learning style so far. My son is actually learning to read with this philosophy, and every day I see proof that it works!
I am just now rejoining Cafemom after a 2 year hiatis I guess you could say! I look forward to being able to give advice as well as ask for it and chit chat about homeschool "biz".
Welcome the the group! :) We are what I call "structured unschoolers." Our learning style is very child led, but we do have somewhat of a schedule bc my kids have asked for it. I have 2 kids a girl 11 and a boy 9. My son learned to read also with a child directed style. At 9 he is an amazing reader.
