OT: Easter and my block obsessed kiddo (opinions appreciated!)
My son (age 3) is obsessed with building. He has archiquest blocks, jenga blocks (that he uses to build with), regular blocks, angry bird building sets.. baskets and baskets (and buckets and plats) filled with building supplies.
He DOES use them. He often spends AT LEAST 6-7 hours a day building castles, houses, platforms, etc. He's ridiculously good at building. His blocks are all well loved, cared for, and very used. It isn't as though he collects them and does nothing with them. As a matter of fact, I had to move most of his regular toys out of his room to make room for his building sets.
I purchased a playmobile set with for Easter... BUT, he has his heart set on that the Easter Bunny is bringing him another set of archiquest blocks. I can easily set aside the playmobile set for another holiday and get the archiquest blocks, but I kind of wondered if I should help him to broaden his interests a bit more (so to speak).
What say you ladies?
I am a Home Schooling, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Stay at Home Mom. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities and nosy, involved parents. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it anywhere near my children. Now for the controversial stuff: we have traditional gender roles, we're Catholic, I'm Libertarian, he's Republican, we're both conservative, and we own guns (now there's no need to ask, lol). Aimee
