Do you keep your child at one grade level for everything or differentiate depending on his/ her level? Also do you stay on the grade all year or move up when your child is ready even if it's the middle of the year?

we use grade level text books, but supplement as we need to.  my 1st grader really likes math and her dad works with her on "extra" lessons.  she's also learning anatomy because it interests her, so i'm sure that's above grade level.  it all evens out, though, because she's actually way behind in her reading.  it's very hard for her & we've started going back through last year's reading lessons.

I use grade levels. It works for us. It's not overwhelming for my son and he's not bored with the work either. He seems to be right on track with all his first grade work :)
