1782 – Charles Watson-Wentworth, 2nd Marquess of Rockingham becomes Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

I just love saying this guy's name. :) It rolls off the tongue. :))  

1981 – The Solidarity movement in Poland stages a warning strike, in which at least 12 million Poles walk off their jobs for four hours.

I bet if Americans were to do this, we could actually get something accomplished for the positive.
