Another reason I look forward to HS'ing

If I oversleep I don't have to worry about the kids missing the bus. We are down to one car right now and DH has it at work so I wouldn't have been able to take them to school. I might've been able to get a neighbor to help, but no guarantees. But luckily they made it.

So, what are some not so textbook reasons you like HS'ing?

We have show cattle and are gone alot. It's awesome not to have to worry if we miss too many days. We are not good with school rules and regulations regarding this.

School in Pajamas! School under the couch cushion fort! LOL. I've been reading about how tweens and young teens need as much sleep as a two yr old, but they need it at different hours. So my late-sleeping dd can do school from 11 am to 2 pm if she needs to (or at midnite) and my ds can work at the shop with his dad all day and do all his school work when he feels like it.

Family vacations when we want to.

Impromptu field trips or days off.

Less commercial influence on my kids  (They aren't going to see, as much, all the crap out there)

Hopefully, un-inhibited kids - They'll be free to be themselves without fear of social pressure (I remember hating book reports b/c the book I chose might not be "cool" enough).

Just getting more time with them (although today that is proving to be a negative, but, that happens)

Therapy schedules keeping him away from school and me driving back and forth.

 Watching documentaries in footy pajamas.

Having school outside just because it is 70 and sunny in April!!

Using the thunderstorm as a "weather" lesson to calm the littlest's fears.

Staying up late reading fact books to the kids as they sculpt things out of clay (we did this last night until I couldn't keep my eyes opened any longer)

If the day starts off on the wrong foot you can just scrap everything & try again the next day. Or you can try later in the day once the stuff that made the day start bad has been fixed.

We can just go to the park and learn something from what we do there.  When we do I can still call it school.  Yay.  Somedays we just need to be outside.

Spending more time with Dad. He works nights and if they were in school would never see him.
Also..getting to go to the fun places when everyone else is in school. :)
