Reading curriculum for K-5

Posted by   + Show Post

Hi, This is our first year of home schooling and we have had to change our curriculum several times to fit my son and we seem to have found the right curriculum for math, science, bible etc but not reading and phonics and he is not where I would like him to be.  Any suggestions?  He really likes the math curriculum life of Fred. Thanks Amy

He is not really reading yet at all. We have our curriculum we went through and phonics and also abc mouse for fun and one day it occured to me he is really not getting it at all. He recognizes most letters but doesn't remember the sound they make. I was panicking and feeling I have failed him but I have tried to relax and remember not all children are ready for reading in kindergarden. I have been reading a lot more fun books to him. I just ordered the mcgruffy curriculum and I think I will probably do reading and phonics through the summer.
